In a meeting chaired by Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif, the federal cabinet approved the National Clean Air Policy.

A briefing was given on the National Clean Air Policy by the Ministry of Climate Change, in 2021, Pakistan was among the 3 most polluted countries in the world, Karachi and Lahore are among the most polluted cities in the world.

During the briefing, it was further informed that air pollution has become a big problem in Pakistan, 235,000 deaths were reported due to air pollution in 2019, air pollution has reduced life expectancy in Pakistan and the problem of smog in winter is dangerous. becomes

The participants were further informed that the National Clean Air Policy will help in reducing air pollution in the country, a National Action Committee will be formed under the National Clean Air Policy, and a technical committee will provide support to the National Action Committee.
