Global National: Dec. 3, 2020 | What is Canada's plan for rolling out the COVID-19 vaccine?

In our top story: We begin with new information about COVID-19 vaccines and Canada's plan to roll out the largest mass vaccination program in its history. Health Canada could approve the first vaccine in seven to 10 days, and it's likely to be the Pfizer/BioNTech vaccine, which has already been approved by the UK. The first doses - enough to inoculate three million Canadians - could arrive from Pfizer in early January or sooner. It's the vaccine that must be kept ultra cold so the company will deliver it directly to 14 locations where special freezers will be in place. Approving the vaccine and deciding how many doses each region gets is up to Health Canada, with expectation of distribution on a per capita basis and the responsibility of administering the vaccines being left to the provinces and territories. Abigail Bimman explains what we know about the plan and what remains uncertain.

Even if and when vaccines are approved in Canada, it will take months for everyone in Canada to get it. There is still a crisis unfolding of COVID-19 across the country, with Alberta seeing a record-breaking 1,854 new daily cases. With only what some call modest restrictions in place in the province, it's expected the virus will keep spreading if left virtually unchecked. Now, contingency plans are being made to build field hospitals to help the sick and dying.

There is a warning tonight about foreign entities suspected of spreading disinformation about COVID-19. The Canadian Security Intelligence Service (CSIS) has named a trio of countries, Iran, China and Russia, in a confidential report obtained by Global News. As David Akin reports, they appear to have a clear and sinister objective.

There is no light at the end of the COVID-19 tunnel in the U.S. right now. More than 2,800 Americans died on Wednesday from the disease. Hospitals are swamped, doctors and nurses are exhausted and the peak of the crisis is a long way off. Jennifer Johnson reports.

Stonehenge in the U.K. is one of the most recognizable ancient wonder of the world. The stone circle has stood on a plain west of London for about 5,000 years. It's a place pilgrimage for druids and a place of awe for millions of tourists. So a plan to build a road underneath it has led to outrage. Crystal Goomansingh reports on the pushback against the Stonehenge Tunnel.
