Ma'Khia Bryant, a 16-year-old Black girl, was shot and killed by an officer outside her home, in Columbus, Ohio, after calling the police for help. Bryant was killed within a half-hour of the historic verdict against former Minneapolis officer Derek Chauvin in the death of George Floyd. As Mike Armstrong reports, the verdict has renewed hopes for racial justice and reform in America but highlights the work that still needs to be done.

To the coronavirus pandemic: In Ontario, hospitals are overflowing with patients as the province grapples with a deepening third wave. Abigail Bimman reports on the desperate moves by a health-care system struggling to keep up.
