Officials report more than a thousand COVID-19 deaths in Germany in a single day, the highest number since the pandemic began. A grim new record for the country as the health minister warns any return to normal is still a long way off. Meanwhile, Germany is gradually rolling out its vaccination campaign. But a dispute is brewing over the implications for a society, divided by those who've already had the jab, and those who haven't.
05:09 Britain has become the first country in the world to authorize the coronavirus vaccine developed by AstraZeneca and Oxford University. It's the second vaccine to receive emergency authorisation from the UK authorities, after the BionTech-Pfizer jab. Trial data suggests the latest vaccine is less effective, but easier to store and transport. Authorities say they plan to start rolling it out within days. Britain is struggling with a surge in virus cases that are threatening to overwhelm hospitals.
