Police, fire brigades and other emergency services participated in a large-scale disaster control exercise at the Allianz Arena, and in the nearby Arabebellapark area, in Munich on Sunday, in preparation for the 2020 UEFA European Football Championship (Euro 2020).
Munich Police Chief Hubertus Andrae said that the police have revised proven operational plans, noting that they have included "the knowledge and results from the [2006] World Cup."
Bavarian Interior Minister Joachim Herrmann said that in light of attacks that have taken place across Europe, "we stand prepared for them."
The exercise reportedly affected traffic and public transport.
Munich's Allianz Arena is the only German venue to host matches during the Euro 2020, which is set to take place between June 12 and July 12, 2020.
