Government spokesperson Steffen Seibert reiterated Berlin's position on the situation in the Kerch Strait, stating that the government wants "dialogue and caution on both sides," while speaking at a press conference in the German capital on Wednesday.
Seibert also added "that a deployment of the German navy to the Crimean coast is not planned at this time", in line with the government's stated goal of de-escalation.
"It is in the interest of Germany, it is in the interest of Europe, that Ukraine will continue to play a role as a transit company for Russian gas," he continued.
Foreign Ministry spokesperson Rainer Breul also presented the government's opinion on the utility of the Syrian White Helmets organisation, commenting that its documentation of "systematic violations of human rights, which are especially committed by the Syrian regime and its allies" was a "very meaningful task."
