An investigation into alleged sex abuse of children and young people by French Catholic priests, deacons and other clergy has found about 216,000 victims of paedophilia from 1950 to 2020.
When lay members of the Church, such as teachers at Catholic schools are included, the number of child victims climbs to 330,000 across the seven-decade period.
The landmark report, released on Tuesday follows widespread outrage about a string of paedophilia claims and prosecutions of Church officials worldwide.
