France is heading to the polls in elections that could bring great uncertainty to the country and Europe.
For the first time, the far-right National Rally party of Marine le Pen has a chance to become the largest, in a vote that could see support for President Emmanuel Macron’s centrist block dwindle.
The final outcome after next Sunday’s second round, could lead to a political stalemate.

Al Jazeera’s Step Vaessen reports from Nice in southern France.
