Topless activists dressed as 'Marianne' the symbol of the French Republic, at the 'Yellow Vest' protest in Paris on Saturday.
The five women approached riot police in a V-formation, removing their off their black coats to reveal silver-painted naked torsos only partially covered by red hoodies bearing the revolutionary Tricolore cockade.
The protest was not organised by activist group FEMEN, known for its bare-breasted protests, but was instead organised by performance artist Deborah de Rebortis.
The so-called 'Yellow Vest' protests entered their fifth consecutive week, as civil unrest grips France.
The "gilets jaunes", known for wearing yellow safety jackets, were initially spurred to action by the announcement of fuel tax hikes, but the movement evolved into an expression of general anger at high costs of living, poverty and inequality in the country.
