Former French President Nicolas Sarkozy has been sentenced to a year of house arrest, for corruption.
He was found guilty of illegal campaign financing during his failed 2012 re-election bid.
The court ruled he spent almost twice the maximum amount allowed.
Nor was this Sarkozy's only corruption charge, as Al Jazeera's Natacha Butler reports from Paris.
