French Foreign Minister Jean-Yves Le Drian delivered the opening remarks at the start of the two-day G7 meeting of Foreign Ministers in Dinard, Friday.
The "fight against inequality and [to] strengthen democracy" are the key principles of the meeting, and finding "shared answers to challenges in international security and particularly terrorism and trafficking" is a priority for the group, he said.
"Reduction of inequality between men and women will also be at the centre of our discussions," he added.
Another concern he tackled concerned "the principles of freedom of expression to prevent foreign interference in limiting press freedom and to be able to arrange an effective way countering manipulation of information."
The two-day meeting will lay the groundwork for the general G7 meeting which this year will take place in the French city of Biarritz in August. French President Emmanuel Macron indicated that the focus of the G7 meeting will be on inequality.
