Former United States secretary of state and foreign policy giant Henry Kissinger has died aged 100.

The veteran politician had a defining influence on American foreign policy under presidents Richard Nixon and Gerald Ford.

A divisive figure to some, he was awarded the Nobel Peace Prize but condemned as a war criminal for his policies in southeast Asia.
