A new Russian version of McDonald’s has reopened at the company’s former flagship store in Moscow.

The Russian version is called Vkusno & tochka, which translates to “Tasty and that’s it.”

The fortunes of the chain could provide a litmus test on whether the Russian economy is able to withstand devastating Western sanctions imposed after Moscow launched an invasion of Ukraine.

McDonald’s closed its doors in March following the start of the invasion and the iconic American burger joint announced in mid-May it would leave the country altogether.

The owners of Vkusno & tochka plan to open 200 restaurants by the end of June and have all 850 former McDonald’s back up and running under the new brand by the end of the summer.
