During an address in Rzeszow, Poland, on Saturday, as the war in Ukraine entered its second month, U.S. President Joe Biden spoke about Russian President Vladimir Putin, saying "for God's sake," this man cannot remain in power." It was the first time Biden appeared to be advocating for a regime change in Russia.

Amid the ongoing conflict, Biden spoke in front of Polish officials, dignitaries and vetted Ukrainian refugees.

In his speech, he also addressed the people of Ukraine both in the eastern European country and those in the audience, telling them "we stand with you, period." He also said that everyone needs to "steel ourselves" for a "long fight ahead."

He also spoke about the ongoing conflict, saying there was "simply no justification or provocation for Russia's choice of war" in Ukraine, saying that it was an example of humanity's basic impulses, "using brute force and disinformation to satisfy a craving for absolute power and control.” He added that it was a "direct challenge" to the rules-based international order established since the end of the Second World War.
