Anyone breaking the tough new quarantine rules will face fines of up to £10,000 and 10 years in prison. The aim is to stop the spread of new Covid-19 variants.
The latest government figures show a further 1,052 deaths have been reported in the latest available 24-hour period, bringing the UK total to over 113,000. There have been another 12,000 new cases in the UK.
And another 352,000 people received their first dose of the Covid vaccine yesterday. Some 12.6 million people have now received their first dose of a vaccine.
