A top item in the federal government's 2023 budget released Tuesday is boosting Canada's clean energy sector, with Ottawa set to spend almost $20 billion on clean jobs and technology.

The Liberals are trying to sell it as the most significant transformation since the Industrial Revolution, with $18.5 billion over the next five years being spent on things like clean tech manufacturing, clean hydrogen and carbon capture and storage. Much of this money will come in the form of tax credits.

As Touria Izri explains, it could be a boost for startups and companies across the country to keep Canada competitive, but there are still questions about what the government didn't address - such as fossil fuels.
