The European Union’s climate agency says Earth experienced record heat for the 10th consecutive month in March.

Those unusually high temperatures have continued across much of Europe in April, with many flocking to beaches or finding other ways to beat the heat on Monday.

Copernicus data released Tuesday shows temperatures averaged 14.4 degrees Celsius in March, exceeding the previous record in 2016 by a tenth of a degree.

It was 1.68 degrees Celsius warmer than in the late 1800s, the base used for temperatures before the burning of fossil fuels began scaling up.

Climate scientists attribute most of the record heat to human-caused climate change from carbon dioxide and methane emissions.
