Liz Truss has announced all household energy bills will be capped at £2,500 a year for two years.

She was unveiling the government’s plan to help families deal with soaring bills.

A typical household's gas and electricity bill had been due to rise from £1,971 to £3,549 in October.

Businesses, charities and public sector organisations will be offered six months of support but Ms Truss said they must find "energy efficiencies".
