The city of Eilat on the shores of the Red Sea in southern Israel is overwhelmed by thousands of people who have arrived in recent days.
About 60,000 evacuees have arrived here, putting a strain on the city. They left other parts of Israel as part of the government’s plan to move people from the south, especially areas near the Gaza Strip.
People have also been evacuated from northern Israel, where the fighting with Hezbollah has intensified in recent days. So far, the Israeli government has evacuated about 200,000 people.
The evacuation is not without challenges.
Evacuation was halted in northern Israel because there were no more hotel rooms left to accommodate the evacuees.

Al Jazeera’s Teresa Bo reports from Eilat in Southern Israel.
