More than 15 million hectares of land were burned during Canada’s 2023 wildfire season, which was the worst in Canadian history.

So as this year’s fire season heats up, an Ontario company has created a non-toxic firefighting gel being used by fire departments in more than 20 municipalities.

As Jeff Semple reports, EcoGel requires no toxic chemicals and could be the fire suppressant of the future.
