Dutch and Danish police clash with anti-lockdown rioters

Police in Denmark and the Netherlands clashed on Sunday with protesters and rioters angry over the countries’ Covid restrictions.

Arrests were made after scuffles broke out following a torch-lit march in Copenhagen, which was organized by the self-named online group ‘Men in Black’.

In the Netherlands, where there is now a curfew from 9pm to 4:30am, fireworks and rocks were thrown at police by a crowd in Eindhoven that included the group 'Netherlands in Resistance' and the far-right anti-Muslim 'Pegida' movement.

Mounted police responded by charging the rioters.

In The Hague, which also saw violent protests, an employee of Het Karmijn, a disability charity whose building was attacked, said: ‘We have been attacked by rioters, hooligans, who have smashed our facility where people with disabilities live. Our clients are very shocked and scared.’
