Drone footage showed on Wednesday the effects of the heavy snowfall in northern Spain, with villages and landscapes left completely white.

The Basque Country region suffered low temperatures and hours of snow falling, which caused a winter scene.

Snow slowed down traffic but plows helped prevent major disruptions on the roads.

Spain's national weather agency AEMET said that the effects of the storms could last until Friday.
