A strong 6.2 magnitude earthquake struck the region of Larissa in central Greece on Wednesday, damaging houses and vehicles and sending people fleeing from their homes.

Drone footage captured over Damasi village showed stone houses destroyed and bricks fallen from walls.

In the village of Damasi, home to 1,500 residents, the schoolhouse and several other homes suffered extensive damage as roofs and walls collapsed, some of them onto parked vehicles, burying them in rubble.

There were no initial reports of casualties or serious injuries from the quake.

Greek seismologists said there was a sequence of post-quake tremors and advised schools to stay closed in the coming days.
