Dozens of people were killed in fighting along the disputed border between Tajikistan and Kyrgyzstan, over a reservoir and pump on the Isfara River that is claimed by both sides.
Villagers and border guards reached a ceasefire overnight and by Friday, the fighting appeared to have ended.
At least one Kyrgyz border outpost and a number of houses on the Kyrgyz side of the border were set on fire, while Tajikstan reported damage to a bridge from shelling.
