During an exclusive Toronto 640 interview on Thursday, Ontario Premier Doug Ford addressed the controversial claims that “extremist” Environment Minister Steven Guilbeault made on Monday that the federal government will “stop investing in new road infrastructure.”

“What are we doing? Are we going to be riding on horseback?” Ford joked.

On Monday, Guilbeault told a crowd in Montreal that Ottawa will “stop investing in new road infrastructure,” according to quotes published in the Montreal Gazette.

When pressed by reporters two days later, Guilbeault said he “should have been more specific,” clarifying the government doesn’t have the funds for “large projects.” Guilbeault has been called upon by a House of Commons committee to explain his remarks within the next two weeks.
