Death toll climbs as South Africa violence spirals

At least 70 people have died and more than 1,200 people have been arrested after days of riots and looting across South Africa.
Protests began after former President Jacob Zuma turned himself in on July 7 to police to serve a jail term for contempt of court.
South Africa has been under a COVID-19 lockdown for more than a year and the demonstrations have expanded to include concerns about increasing poverty and inequality.
