Dante Alighieri may be celebrated as one of the fathers of Italian literature, but he was a convicted criminal who was forced into exile until he died.
The writer of the 'Divine Comedy' is now being given a re-trial to posthumously clear his name.
The question is whether Italy's courts can absolve one of the country's most famous poets, seven hundred years after his death.
