COVID inquiry: First lockdown came 'a bit too late' - Whitty

Professor Sir Chris Whitty has told the COVID inquiry the timing of the first lockdown "with the benefit of hindsight," came "a bit too late."

He said there was a difficult balance between introducing measures too early and having "all the damages with fairly minimal impact" and going too late and finding "all the problems of the pandemic running away".
