Ontario’s top doctor has announced the province will expand eligibility for a fourth COVID-19 dose to those aged 18 to 59, starting on July 14 at 8 a.m..

Dr. Kieran Moore made the announcement Wednesday morning and said people in the age group can now get a second booster if it has been five months since their last booster shot. It must also be at least three months since a COVID-19 infection.

The announcement comes as Ontario is well into the seventh wave of COVID-19 – driven by the BA.5 subvariant.

Moore said the province will also continue to make rapid antigen tests available free of charge until the end of the year at grocery stores and pharmacies, workplaces, schools and long-term care homes, as well as other congregate settings.
