Nova Scotia premier Iain Rankin outlined tougher COVID-19 measures set to begin on Saturday in the province after announcing a record-breaking 227 new cases and one new death on Friday.

The new measures include tightening the border, isolation requirements for rotational workers, limits on shoppers and schools remaining closed until at least the end of May.

At the COVID-19 briefing Friday, Rankin said the bad news is there 200 and more positive cases that need to be added to the system. Nova Scotia’s chief medical officer of health, Dr. Robert Strang, said now there’re a large number of positive cases that haven’t got investigation yet.

In the meantime, anyone tested due to potential exposure, because they have symptoms, or were advised by public health to self-isolate until receiving test results, should continue to self-isolate until they receive a negative result.
