Health Secretary Matt Hancock has said, despite the UK's vaccine rollout running smoothly, new variants are a cause for concern.

There have been 105 cases of the South Africa variant reported in the UK so far, 11 of which appear to have no links to travel abroad. While there is 'no evidence to suggest the variant is any more severe', the Health Secretary told parliament that 'we have to come down on it hard'.

He added that there are 11 cases of mutations 'of concern' in Bristol and 32 cases in Liverpool, where COVID-19 testing is being rolled out door-to-door.
