French President Emmanuel Macron on Wednesday announced that new COVID-19 lockdown measures that have been in place for the Paris region, as well as some other areas, would expand to the entire country starting Saturday for at least one month.
"We will lose control if we do not move now," Macron said.
As part of the country's third lockdown, schools will also close for three weeks after Easter, which takes place this weekend.
The pandemic has killed more than 95,300 people in France.
