Alberta's chief medical officer of health Dr. Deena Hinshaw will join health minister Jason Copping on Tuesday for a weekly update on COVID-19 in the province.

Last week officials announced that the number of people in hospital with COVID-19 dropped.

It was also announced that the prevalence of COVID-19 in wastewater testing and PCR testing showed the positivity rate dropping as well.

Between May 3 and May 9, the PCR positivity rate ranged from 16.8 to 26.1 per cent. Hinshaw said the average positivity rate during that time period was 20.7 per cent.

Though, the chief medical officer of health warned the virus is still a threat as she confirmed 70 COVID-19 deaths had been reported to the health authority between May 3 and May 9.
