Alberta's chief medical officer of health Dr. Deena Hinshaw provided an update on the most recent numbers of COVID-19 cases in the province Friday and the government's ongoing response to the pandemic.

Starting next week, anyone in the province of Alberta who wants to be tested for COVID-19 can be, regardless of whether they have symptoms.

Effective immediately, residents of Calgary can complete the online assessment for an appointment to be tested. The same online booking will be available for the rest of the province next week, Hinshaw said.

The testing will give the province a “really good understanding” of where the presence is in Alberta's communities as the current testing strategy has been focused on people with the highest risk of exposure.
