Anti-lockdown riots continued for a third night in parts of The Netherlands on Monday as people took to the streets once more over various measures imposed to combat a new wave of COVID-19.

Prime Minister Mark Rutte condemned the violence that had occurred the day prior, which saw damage to buildings, including broken doors and even bicycles set on fire in the middle of a road in Eindhoven.

Police said hundreds had been detained over the weekend as rioters threw rocks and, in one case, knives at police. They also burned down a COVID-19 testing station. More than 5,700 fines have also been issued for breaking curfew.
