Five weeks after the “Ever Forward” got itself stuck in the mud in the Chesapeake Bay in Maryland, the massive container ship has finally been freed.

The cargo ship, which is about the length of three football fields and weighs more than the CN Tower, had been wedged in the muddy bottom of the bay.

For the 36 days it was beached, tugboats had tried pushing and pulling it, while dredging efforts ensued around its hull.

Global’s Jackson Proskow explains the expensive undertaking to refloat the enormous boat and why inconvenienced customers might have to foot some of the bill.
