Polls conducted by the government last month projected that Putin would get nearly 80 percent of the vote, securing him another six years in office.
He’s already been in power for 24 years and that could continue to 30 years when he’s re-elected.
Every person I’ve been speaking to all morning here at a voting station in Moscow, from various age groups, has said they support Vladimir Putin.
They say that he is the man for the country, they trust him and they have known him for many, many years. They believe in his policies both domestically and foreign.
What is clear is that Putin will again continue his reign in power and tighten his grip.
For the first, there have been no international monitors allowed inside Russia. There is no real opposition, the voices have been silenced in one way or another in Russia when it comes to criticizing the war in Ukraine and the policies of Putin.
