China's foreign ministry on disputed U.S. claims on Tuesday of a Chinese "secret police station" in New York, after U.S. federal agents arrested two New York residents for allegedly running a covert station for China’s police force.

China maintains a policy of non-interference in other countries and these alleged police stations do not exist, foreign ministry spokesperson Wang Wenbin told a regular news briefing in Beijing. He added there's no "factual basis" in this accusation.

U.S. federal agents arrested Lu Jianwang, 61, and Chen Jinping, 59, on Monday for allegedly operating a Chinese "secret police station" in the Chinatown district of Manhattan, in what prosecutors said was part of a crackdown on Beijing's alleged targeting of dissidents.

Wang also said a communiqué by the Group of Seven (G7) foreign ministers meeting grossly interfered in China's internal affairs, and maliciously smeared and discredited the country. The statements were "full of arrogance, prejudice and sinister intentions against China," he said, adding that Beijing had lodged stern representations with G7 host country Japan.

Plus, Wenbin urged officials to abandon a "Cold War" mentality and stop hyping up the "China threat" narrative, just after a Dutch spy agency called China "the greatest security threat" to the Netherlands.
