Spokesperson for the Chinese Ministry of Commerce Gao Feng gave a press conference in Beijing on Thursday, ahead of the arrival of a US delegation for trade talks.
“There will be a business dinner tonight. The two sides will have a day-long talk tomorrow. Next week, Vice Premier Liu He will visit Washington and have the 9th round of high-level talks with the US,” Gao said.
Feng also said that the two delegations “spare no pains to talk and try to move forward to the important consensus of the leaders from the two countries."
While Feng did not elaborate on what exactly the talks would cover, he noted that “cooperation is the best choice for China and the US. This is not only good for the two countries but for the rest of the world.”
When asked about restrictions on Chinese companies Hua Wei and Zhong Xing in Japan, Feng said that China does not want to see “protectionism rising in Japan, who used to support free trade.”
