Professional football player Carl Nassib, a defensive end for the Las Vegas Raiders, has come out as gay, making him the first openly gay active football player in the NFL.

Nassib made the announcement on Instagram, saying he's agonized about getting it off his chest for the last 15 years, and hopes his announcement can help drive representation and visibility in the league.
