A retiree living in a converted laundry room in the Halifax area says she’s having no luck finding anything within her 1,300/month rent budget.

Liz Myers shares the tiny unit with her 16-year-old cat, and says the space feels “claustrophobic.” She said she feels “overlooked” as a retiree renting on income assistance.

As Megan King reports, a lack of housing availability means landlords can be more restrictive about who they want to rent to.
