Canadian government modifies measures to protect North Atlantic right whales

There are fewer than 400 North Atlantic right whales in the world and in Canada, federal efforts to protect them are proving successful.

Over a five-year period, 25 of the whales died after becoming entangled in fishing gear or being struck by vessels. But last year, there were none.

Ross Lord looks at the restrictions that balance saving the whales and allow the fishing industry to keep doing business.
