Russia's aggression in Ukraine is putting on pressure on Canada to hike up its defence spending ahead of Thursday's federal budget announcement.

Canada has long faced pressure from its allies to hit the 2 per cent of GDP NATO defence spending target. The country's spending on that front currently stands at 1.4 per cent, though Ottawa has been signalling more spending is coming in the imminent budget.
