EU members have reached a deal on targets for the supply of critical minerals that are key for chip and EV battery production. The Critical Raw Materials Act aims to reduce the bloc’s reliance on third countries – primarily China – and puts targets on local extraction, recycling, and processing of 16 critical minerals and rare earths.
