Amid the city’s ongoing water main break emergency, Calgary Mayor Jyoti Gondek has detailed a week-long repair timeline that will require Calgarians to continue to reduce their water use as crews work to fix the pipe that was damaged last week.

“It will be likely mid-next-week when we have an update on how the repairs, the flushing and the testing of the repairs to the feeder main have gone,” Gondek said during her Wednesday morning update.

Though the feeder main is expected to be repaired by Thursday, the flushing and testing afterwards is expected to take about five days.

And despite commending locals for saving “50 Olympic-sized” pools worth of water on a daily basis – adding that the City is in a “pretty stable place” with Calgary’s water supply – Gondek noted that “we are not quite out of the woods yet,” urging citizens to continue reducing their water usage.
