Calgary house explosion leaves 10 people in hospital, 6 in life-threatening conditions

Calgary emergency crews spent most of Monday on scene of an explosion in the northeast part of the city. Calgary Fire Department Chief Steve Dongworth said a house in the Marlborough neighbourhood exploded at around 8:50 a.m. local time on Monday.

CCTV footage from a nearby business obtained by Global News showed a red fireball, flying debris and subsequent mushroom cloud rising up above the surrounding neighbourhood at that time.

The fire chief said one house was completely destroyed and two other nearby houses caught fire. Eight other homes were damaged by debris.

As Global's Craig Momney reports, many neighbours didn’t hesitate to help out.
