In his first full budget since his appointment as Chancellor, Jeremy Hunt is expected to make a surprise announcement to help with the cost of childcare, part of a package of initiatives to get more people to return to the workforce. 

Efforts to encourage the over-50s, the long-term sick and the disabled back into the workplace are also likely to form a key plank of the budget.
