Boris Johnson has told the nation 'firm' and 'tougher' action must be taken due to the spread of the new COVID-19 variant.

The Prime Minister added that the government is rolling out vaccinations as fast as possible, that secondary school pupils will return to schools later than first planned, and more areas of the UK will be placed under Tier 4 restrictions.
