In a speech to a right-wing think tank in New York, Suella Braverman suggested the United Nations 1951 Refugee Convention needs updating to stop "simply being gay or a woman" being a reason for people to claim asylum in the UK.

Sky's US correspondent Mark Stone asked the home secretary about the comments about her father's immigrant experience and whether she believes this story reflects the journey of all migrants and how she reconciles it with her views.

Suella Braverman rejected the idea that since she is a child of immigrants she should
be "pro-migration and pro the status quo."
