After 114 years, Boy Scouts is changing its name to Scouting America. CEO Roger Krone announced the decision at a national meeting on Tuesday. Even though the organization has opened up membership to gay and female members over the last decade, Krone said the rebrand is a push to make the group feel more welcoming. It comes as the organization faces historicaly low membership rates and an ongoing recovery from bankruptcy that involves compensating thousands of former scouts for sexual abuse claims. The name change will officially take effect in February, 2025.
